"De-radicalization" Jiashi County Holds "Little Apple" Group Dance Competition
November 21, 2014Accompanied by the cheerful music of “Little Apple,” at 3 o’clock this afternoon, Kashgar’s Jiashi County held a 4,000-person “Little Apple” dance competition at the county bilingual elementary school stadium. 20 “Little Apple” dance teams from the county, town and county agencies participated in the competition . . . [A] 68-year-old old man from Yingawati Village, Yingmaili Township, danced vigorously to his team’s adaptation of “Little Apple.” He was not initially interested in singing and dancing, but participated in the dance competition because of the adaptation of the lyrics. The content of the lyrics are all things that happened in this hometown, such as: removing the veil, shaving off your beard, just to save you . . . enriching the people and living in peace, working hard to get rich, and so on.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiashi County has . . . carried out in-depth “de-radicalization” work. Through a series of cultural and sports activities that delight farmers, such as dance, cross talk, and sketches, the county has gradually diluted the religious atmosphere. Now the young people are full of vigor, and the women take off their veils and show their beautiful faces, showing the flavor of Jiashi’s modern culture and beautiful happy life.
